Class procedures
Beginning of the period procedure
1) Students will line up outside of class to be greeted by Mr. Polk
2) Students will proceed to acquire there notebook from the cabinet labeled for that period.
3) Students will proceed to the assign seat and sit quietly
4) Students will begin work on the IN for the day working quietly and independently.

REFOCUS Procedure
To quiet the class when Mr. Polk needs to explain or answer a question, Mr. Polk will raise his hand and count 1…2…3 then we all power clap. Then the class will be quiet and listening to Mr. Polk.

Students seeking help procedure
If a student has a question about the assignment she/he will place a yellow index card on the seat number in front of them, the purpose of this is to eliminate distraction of other students that are quietly working. While the student is awaiting clarification he/she will work on the next section

Movement of Student procedure
All students are seated and diligently on task, if a student requests to leave his or her seat for any reason, they will place a red card on their seat number. Mr. Polk will address the students’ needs in order or proximity to Mr. Polk. Not all requests to leave seat will be granted, not all will be denied.

Restroom Procedure
Restroom passes will not be given during the first 15 minutes of class. Restroom requests will not be made during the first 15 min of class.
Students who have 0 to 2 restroom requests at the end of the semester will get an additional 10 points.

Supply Procedure
Students will not sharpen pencils during class, instead Mr. Polk will have supply of sharpened pencils for students to exchange or borrow for a class period. Paper will be available at each desk if a student has run out. The expectation is that student come to class fully prepared that means pencil paper, notebook, homework, and journal neat and complete.

End of Period Procedure
1) The final 7 minutes of class ALL students will STOP what they are doing.
2) Students will proceed to their assigned seats if not already there. Students will open their notebooks and on the same paper as they wrote the IN, the student will write how the objective of the days lesson was accomplished, what they learned and any additional questions they have.
3) Mr. Polk will check each Journal for a well written review of the day’s lesson. This will be your exit ticket.
4) The final 2 min of class each student will pick up any debris that has accumulated near their seat, and place it in the trash receptacle. This is an example of a time when students do not need a red card request to get out of their seat.
5) During the final 2 minutes of class students will place their notebooks back into the cabinet. And then sit back down in their seat
6) The bell does not dismiss you.
7) Mr. Polk will ask a table to line up for dismissal, until all tables have been called on, each student will hand Mr. Polk their exit ticket as they leave.

Getting Water
Please bring a water bottle to class. Each student will have an opportunity to fill the water bottle with water during class, two students at a time no more then 1 min out of your seat.
